… i’ve worked on a while back. Textures for the floor were actually taken from photo references in a far too complicated workflow. I’ve shot the piece of parquet several times from a very near distance and then composed the whole one back together in gimp. Then i masked out bumpy parts of it by hand and layered a b/w version of it on top. Something like that. All in all they’re all separate objects and 3 pieces share one 8k (!!!!!!) texture each. It took about 2 1/2h to render with Photon Mapping and Final Gathering (inderectdiffuse shadeop).

All rendered with 3delight and exported from blender with my self-written renderman exporter.

And the chair is just a very simple object with a self-made renderman shader.

It’s nothing  fancy but as I haven’t updated my page since ages I thought I’d share this.

Just tried a recent revision of the BMesh branch – the new polygon mesh system for blender which finally supports NGONS !!

It is still very buggy that’s why I’m happy to show this piece of work which was created in something inbetween 1 and 2 hours from a cube without a single crash!

The Aqsis development team put together a very impressive demo about the new core of their rendering engine. I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen a REYES style engine rendering in realtime entirely on the CPU. The goal of the recode is to improve the speed and code readability. At least with the speed this video proves that they did an amazing job!
At the end of the video you see a cloth animation demo which is exported from Blender with my exporter.

check out their blog for more information about the project.

NextGen Gallery is working way better than LazyGallery. Needs a bit more work to get it running but also offers a lot more possibilities. Recommend it for anyone who whishes to include a nice gallery in his blog.

The slideshow got kicked completely  though NextGen Gallery offers this feature through an exterm flash player called “imagerotator”. Grab it from here if you like to try it. Its a cool plugin but some of my Images got stretched and that looked quite ugly ;) . An option to use the image thumbnails for the rotator would be handy.

Anyway, I’m happy with the layout … Now back to content :)

for some strange reason Lazy Gallery stoped working with Lightbox. So I decided to try another gallery plugin called “NextGenGallery”. This seems promising and has its own Lightbox like thing integrated. So seems as if i have to rework lots of stuff …

Finally figured out the stuff with Lazy Gallery and got all running the way i want it to work/look. Content in the gallery is still not very big but i will upload a few WIPs tomorrow so there is interesting stuff on the way.

If you like to be included in the link list, feel free to contact me via the contact formula or just leave a comment.

Good things are comming and i hope you enjoy my little site,

cheers,

Hi

My name is Sascha Fricke and this is my first blog post on my fresh and new blog/portfolio where i will (more or less) frequently post nice renderings, wip screen shots, videos etc. of my artwork as well as some pyhton scripts and RenderMan shaders.

The whole side is still in development, e.g. i have to figure out how to use this LazyGallery or if i won’t I’ll probably need to find another gallery cause this will  be the most important part of this website.

Well, wait for the next post as that will hopefully bring nice and “real” updates to your eyes ;)

until then

feel free to feel good
